Stonefield Cellars Winery is hosting a Wine & Art Event – “Introduction to Pastels Technique Workshop”
Cost is $45 – includes Wine Tasting, Souvenir Glass, Painting Supplies, and Instruction.
About Your Instructor: James (Jim) Smythe is a university-trained artist with a Master of Fine Arts degree. Jim has taught art on the adult level for almost 50 years. Jim’s experiences living in both the southern coastal and western NC mountain regions have been the inspirational source and subject of his works as a realist painter.
Workshop Goals: This Pastel Workshop will be an informal, stress free and fun experience with the pastel medium. Jim will walk the class step by step through painting a beach scene while demonstrating the basic techniques of the medium and alerting you to the pitfalls. Tips will be given for ways that you can add your own imagination to the final painting. You may wish to bring photos that you have taken at the beach as reference.
Levels: Beginner to Intermediate
Materials: A starter set of pastels and pastel paper will be provided. If you have some experience with pastels and have your own supplies, feel free to bring them to supplement what is provided. Jim will be using an easel to demonstrate so all can see. You can work on the flat tables that will be provided or you can bring a stand up easel or a table easel and support board.
