Return, Refund, Credit Policies

If you have any questions regarding these policies please call 336-644-9908 during our regular business hours (Thurs-Sat 12-6pm & Sun 1-6pm).

Damaged Wines:
Federal law states alcoholic beverages can only be exchanged if the product is spoiled, deteriorated or contaminated; spoiled bottles must be returned to the business for examination and reporting. Stonefield Cellars Winery will gladly replace bottles should the wine be found as damaged. Please do not pour out the wine, place the cork back in the bottle and call our office at 336-644-9908 to schedule an appointment during our regular business hours.

Unwanted Wine Orders:
Stonefield Cellars Winery will not refund unwanted wines. For all other orders including Will Call orders, Shipped Wine or Merchandise, Stonefield Cellars Winery will allow the order to be canceled within 48 hours of purchase, for store credit, if the order is still on property. After the 48 hours we can not cancel or refund the order. Once the order has left property we will not be able to take the wine or merchandise back under any circumstance.

Special Event/Concert Ticket Refunds/Transfer:
Tickets are non-refundable.  If you would like to transfer your ticket to someone else you must notify us in writing (via email) no later than 24 hours prior to the event in order for our attendance list to be updated.   Send notification to nwurz@stonefieldcellars.com.

Want to Make Wine?

Stonefield Cellars hosts two Winemaking Courses per year (in the spring, and in the fall) taught by Robert E. M. Wurz, Ph.D.

In six classes over 8 weeks, this course covers the full winemaking process: from fermentation to bottling. Learn techniques to start or improve your own home winemaking while creating your own wine during class in small teams of 2-4 & hone your wine evaluation skills with classes on sensory evaluation training and food and wine pairing.

Spring 2025 Course Class Dates:

Mondays 7:00-9:00 pm in the Stonefield Cellars Production Room.

March 31 –  1st Class: Introduction – Basics of fermentation and winemaking.

April 7 –  2nd Class: Principles of Winemaking – Racking, barrels, oak alternatives, tannins. Wines of the world.

April 21 – 3rd Class: Wine sensory evaluation. Food and wine pairing.

April 28 – 4th Class: Defects and Problems: Causes and remedies, fining agents, additives, filtering.

May 12 – 5th Class: Blending, tasting panel, and bottling preparations.

May 19 – 6th Class: Bottling, Labeling, Wrap-up, Exam.

Cost: $195
Provided: Materials, extensive winemaking notes, snacks, and 3 bottles of wine bottled by the class.

Must be at least 21 years old to participate.
Class size limited to 16 people.
Additional Class Wine will be available for $14.95 per Bottle

Registration: Email Natalie at nwurz@stonefieldcellars.com with your contact information (name and phone number). Registration options will be explained (can be handled over the phone or in person at the winery during normal business hours).  Note:  REGISTRATION DEADLINE is March 16th, 2025!

Instructor Biography
Robert E. M. Wurz, Ph.D. – Robert is a native of Napa Valley, CA. He received his doctorate in wine chemistry from the University of California, Davis. He has taught wine making classes at Patrick Henry Community College in Virginia, at Stonefield Cellars Winery in Stokesdale, NC, and is currently the winemaker for Stonefield Cellars Winery in Stokesdale, NC.

Wine Appreciation Workshops

 Wine Appreciation Workshops

Are you interested in attending a wine appreciation workshop with your friends?  Winemaker Robert E. M. Wurz, Ph.D will educate and entertain your group in the techniques of assessing wine characteristics and quality, including varietal differences and food and wine pairings.

Contact Stonefield Cellars to arrange for your workshop date and time (based on winemaker availability).  Workshop duration is 2 hours, Group minimum is 12, maximum is 24.  Cost per person is $35

Business Hours

Our regular business hours: Thursday / Friday / Saturday 12-6pm  and  Sunday 1-6 pm. Masks are optional indoors in our Tasting Room & Bathrooms. No masks required outdoors.

**Please note that we can only accommodate groups of 4 guests or less for wine tastings, and we start our last tasting at 5:00 pm.**

As we cannot host tastings for large groups at this time, groups of 5-6 guests may purchase bottles or glasses of wine to enjoy on our outdoor patio and guests may try a complimentary taste of their chosen wine before purchasing.

Please call the winery at 336-644-9908 to make a reservation if you have a group of 5 or more  or would like an event rental consultation. 

Also, with COVID19 restrictions, indoor seating is very limited.  During inclement weather it is advised to reserve your table in advance to assure we can accommodate you. Inside table seating is restricted to 1 hour occupancy.   Please call the winery during our regular business hours at 336-644-9908 to schedule an appointment.

We conduct tasting flights as folks arrive, so no appointment is necessary unless you have a group of 5 or more or would like to visit outside regular hours for an event rental consultation* Please call the winery during our regular business hours at 336-644-9908 or email nwurz@stonefieldcellars.com to schedule an appointment.

*Important Information Regarding After Hours Appointments:   Our policy is that a credit card number will be required to secure your appointment and a $15 cancellation fee will be applied in the event of no-shows beyond an hour of the scheduled appointment.  (Please understand that we still must pay staff to open and wait even though someone doesn’t show up).
