DESCRIPTION:Online tickets available until 3PM the day of the concert\, tickets sold at the Door thereafter (call ahead to make sure tickets are still available!). \nStonefield Cellars is so pleased to bring back “Sean Gavin and Friends”!  Sean\, accompanied by his brother\, Michael Gavin\, and friend Don Penzien\, compose our Celtic band offering this season.  See bios and examples of their music in their respective website links below. \n  \nSean Gavin\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nUilleann piper and flute player SEAN GAVIN is one of the most highly regarded Irish musicians of his generation. In 2016 he became the first and only musician born outside Ireland to win the prestigious Seán Ó Riada Gold Medal\, and his most recent recording was hailed by The Irish Echo as “traditional music at its best!” He is among the most highly sought instructors of Irish music and has taught at institutions around the world. He now serves as Director of the Swannanoa Gathering’s Celtic Week.    \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nhttps://www.seangavinmusic.com/about/ \n  \n  \n  \n  \n \nMichael Gavin\nFiddle\, Banjo\, Guitar\, Bouzouki\, Mandolin & Singing\nMichael Gavin has been playing and teaching Irish music for over 30 years. He grew up in an environment rich in traditional music where he learned from his father\, Co. Clare fiddler Mick Gavin. A member of popular Detroit-based band Blackthorn\, Michael has regularly shared the stage with such greats as Liz Carroll\, Kevin Burke\, and Ashley MacIsaac. He is a virtuoso multi-instrumentalist\, with a mastery of guitar\, fiddle\, banjo\, bouzouki\, and vocals. No stranger to the art of teaching\, Michael is also a professor of philosophy\, with degrees from the University of Michigan and Wayne State University. His pupils\, both musical and otherwise\, have gone on to great achievements throughout the USA\, Ireland\, and beyond\n  \n \nDon Penzien Don Penzien has long been a top-flight performer of Irish traditional music. He frequently is on the road playing concerts and festivals with Haley Richardson\, Gailfean\, Brian Conway\, Gerry O’Connor\, and The Máirtín de Cógáin Project\, and he has served as accompanist for numerous other well-known performers (e.g.\, Seán Gavin\, Randal Bays\, Máirtín de Cógáin\, John Whelan\, Tim Britton\, John Williams\, Pat Broaders\, Gabe Donohue\, Ben Jaber\, Tony DeMarco\, Billy McComiskey\, Sean Clohessy\, Bridget Fitzgerald\, Kevin Doyle). Widely recognized for his reserved backing style\, Don’s dexterous work on DADGAD-tuned guitar provides solid\, driving rhythms to traditional tunes as well as perceptive and sensitive accompaniments to songs and airs. Don is a Michigan native with strong roots in Irish culture and an affinity for Celtic music. Hailing from two distinct musical worlds\, they merge their unique backgrounds into a powerful collaboration that has garnered both critical acclaim and widespread appeal. \nNatalya\, a classically trained musician from Massachusetts with deep roots in klezmer and jazz\, joins forces with John\, a 12th-generation North Carolinian and grandson of pioneering bluegrass fiddler Jim Shumate. Together\, they create music that honors their respective traditions while forging a distinctive sound of their own. Accolades follow Zoe & Cloyd wherever they go. John is a grand prize winner of both the prestigious Chris Austin Songwriting Contest and the Hazel Dickens Songwriting Contest\, while Natalya has earned numerous fiddle contest wins all across the country. They have been performing fun\, engaging\, live shows for over a decade\, throughout the Triangle & Triad areas and are always a crowd favorite.\n\nBand co-founder\, Fiddling Chris Mankoff makes his home in the Bull City. He started playing classical violin at a young age\, inspired by great North Carolina fiddler Tommy Jarrell\, he began playing old-time fiddle in his 20’s. Chris seamlessly blends bluegrass\, old-time\, cajun\, country & western and Irish fiddle styles. A singer\, songwriter\, composer and multi-instrumentalist\, Chris’s main bluegrass influences are Bill Monroe\, Curly Ray Cline\, Kenny Baker and Bobby Hicks\, but his diverse musical influences run deep and are a source of endless surprises.\n\nHarold Brady\, a band co-founder and Triangle resident\, hails from Moore County\, playing bass in bluegrass bands throughout his time at NC State University in the 1990’s. Since then he has played in numerous bluegrass\, indie rock\, country\, cajun/zydeco\, and jazz projects throughout central North Carolina. Inspired by bluegrassers such as Mike Bub\, Rob Wasserman\, and Tom Gray he keeps the party moving. Harold’s passion for the rivers and streams throughout the state led to him proposing the band name\, The Carolina Heelsplitters\, a federally protected freshwater mussel that only occurs in a small area along the North and South Carolina stateline.\n\nWith over 30 years of experience as a performer and songwriter\, Greensboro’s Greg Eldred has become a celebrated figure in the realms of Bluegrass\, Americana\, and country music. Drawing inspiration from the legendary sounds of Doc Watson\, Bill Monroe\, and Jerry Reed\, Greg’s music resonates with authenticity and heartfelt storytelling.  Throughout his career\, Greg has showcased his versatility as an artist\, captivating audiences with his skilled guitar playing and soulful vocals. His ability to traverse various musical genres has not only enriched his performances but has also positioned him as an established songwriter\, with his works being recorded by national artists. DESCRIPTION:  \n \nRADIO REVOLVER – June 13th\, 2025 \nOnline tickets for this concert will be available until 3PM the day of the concert\, tickets sold at the gate thereafter. \nLet’s just say this band is one of the top rock cover bands in the Triad.  We love them and think you will too! \nUpdate from Radio Revolver: \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n BIG NEWS\, REVOLVER FANS! \n\n\nWe are beyond thrilled to introduce the insanely talented **Sarah Strable** as the **new lead singer** for **Radio Revolver!**  From the moment we met Sarah\, we knew she was something special—and let’s just say\, she’s blown us away with her powerhouse vocals and electrifying energy! \n\n\nWe’ve attached her **BIO** and some killer **performance pics** so you can see exactly why we’re so pumped! Go check them out! \n\n\nBIO Sarah Strable:\n\n\nSarah Strable is a vocalist\, yoga instructor\, and healing arts practitioner in Greensboro\, NC. Sarah began classical vocal studies at age 12 and started singing professionally at age 16 with the party band Timepiece. After performing with Timepiece for 6 years and earning a BA in vocal performance at Greensboro College\, Sarah co-founded the music ensemble Certified Organic with Andy Eversole; the group performed a mix of folk\, bluegrass\, and Americana. Subsequently\, during 9 years as part of the band Black and Blue\, Sarah expanded her repertoire by singing pop\, Motown\, and R&B classics all over the East Coast. Sarah joined American Cruise Lines as a resident entertainer in 2023\, sharing the gift of music on America’s rivers and oceans.\n\n\nIn addition to delivering stunning versions of the National Anthem for high profile events like the 2020 U.S. Figure Skating Championships\, Sarah has been a prolific studio recording artist for many North Carolina-based song-writers and groups\, including The Catalinas\, Andy Eversole\, Viva La Muerte\, Banjo Earth Band\, The Deluge\, and Dan Shull. In 2008\, Sarah’s lead vocal on the song “My Sweet Talkin’ Daddy” helped the song climb to number 8 on the beach music charts. Her vocals can also be heard on several film soundtracks\, including the 2018 IMAX film\, In Saturn’s Rings.\n\n\nCurrently\, Sarah enjoys contributing to new recording projects and appearing with a wide variety of groups.
