SUMMARY:Hike and Wine and FOOD Truck! No fee to hike\, but $$ for wine and food
DESCRIPTION:  \n  \nCelebrate Earth Day (a bit late) and Celebrate the opening of three new trails at Knight-Brown Nature Preserve!   \nWhat a great opportunity to celebrate nature and the preservation of wild spaces!  Piedmont Land Conservancy (PLC)\, will be holding a ribbon-cutting celebration and guiding the hike of three new trails at the nearby Knight-Brown Nature Preserve;  Running Pines Trail\, Fern Trail\, and the Canopy View Loop (around 2 miles total).   We plan to hike these new trails and then return to the winery for a cash/credit wine and dinner reception.   West Coast Wanderer will be the Food Truck for the evening.  Schedule:  The plan is to meet at the winery at 5:00pm\, depart by 5:15pm.  The Ribbon Cutting will start at 5:30\, then we hike and finish around 7pm\, and then return to the winery for wine\, food\, and fellowship with kindred spirits.   Stonefield Cellars will donate 25% of wine sales from the event to PLC.  NOTE:  Even if you are unable to join the hike\, you are still invited to the reception!  There will be PLC staff and volunteers available to answer any questions you may have about the organization and future plans for more preservation of precious lands in our area.  And again\, you can support their efforts by purchasing our wine (and you support one of our favorite food trucks!) \nPlease RSVP no later than Thursday\, May 30th (see below).  \nFor more info about the nature preserve and Piedmont Land Conservancy\, click here

SUMMARY:Nature Hike followed by Winery Visit
DESCRIPTION: Nature Hike followed by Winery Visit   \nHike at Knight-Brown Nature Preserve (see map link below)- Meet at 9:30 a.m at the trail head (hike should be completed around noon) then after the hike we travel to nearby Stonefield Cellars Winery for a bring-your-own picnic lunch and wine tasting (or buy wine by the glass/bottle\, snacks\, beer and non-alcoholic beverages available also).  Wine tasting fees will need to be paid at the winery.  There is no fee to participate in the hike.  Natalie will share information about how you can support the Piedmont Land Conservancy\, the organization that is the steward for this beautiful property. \n\nEnjoy the late spring outdoors with a hike at Knight-Brown Nature Preserve\, just a few miles north-west of Stonefield Cellars Winery. Natalie will lead the hike at this beautiful nature preserve which includes multiple trail loops\, a few steep hills\, a beautiful creek\, and interpretive signs along the way. If all loops are hiked\, mileage will total 3.43. Number of loops hiked will be determined by group participants. Note: Difficulty is easy to ‘moderate’ (only because we will go up and down a couple of hills – it’s not flat the whole way!). You must RSVP if you plan to join this hike. Natalie will give you more information before the date. For those interested\, after the hike we will head to Stonefield Cellars Winery for a (bring-your-own) picnic lunch – and wine will be available for purchase of course! Please RSVP  to nwurz@stonefieldcellars.com\n  \nGoogle Maps Link to Trailhead \nAbout Your Nature Hike Guide  \nNatalie Wurz \n  Natalie Wurz is a nature lover that has spent a lifetime of pursuing outdoor adventures. Through the years as a College Outdoor Club Officer\, Girl Scout Leader and now Business Owner (Stonefield Cellars)\, she has led groups on hikes\, camp-outs\, and kayak/rafting trips in Georgia\, Utah\, and North Carolina.  With either a fishing rod\, paddle\, hiking stick\, or camera in hand\, Natalie is comfortable on land and water and is always eager to share her passion for the year round beauty of our natural world with others. Note:  The photo you see here was taken by the ox-bow of the creek beside the trail we will be walking at the Knight-Brown Nature Preserve! \nNatalie will lead you on a nature walk through the Knight-Brown Nature Preserve located in Stokesdale\, NC.   Difficulty of the trail is rated as Easy to Moderate.  You must be able to walk from 1-1/2 to 2 hours – we will stop and take photos and rest as necessary since some of the walk will be uphill.  Important!!!!   While there are bridges for crossing the creek\, some trail areas may be muddy if we’ve had recent rain\, and sometimes the trail may be slippery with leaves.  Therefore\, sturdy\, closed toe shoes are a must (no sandals or flip-flops).  Dress for the weather (wear layers\, bring a jacket).  If steady RAIN is in the forecast we will NOT go on the nature walk and will replace it with an INDOOR activity. \n*Times listed above are approximate as the nature walk end time will be effected by size of group and how often we stop for photos and rests. \nIf you have ANY questions about the hike or winery visit contact Natalie – 336-689-4071. \nFor more info about the nature preserve and Piedmont Land Conservancy\, click here
