DESCRIPTION:The Workshop and Concert is now  SOLD OUT!!!!!\nSaturday\, February 24\, 2024 –  Workshop is from 4-6pm  Concert is 7:30-9:30pm\n \nA GUITAR WORKSHOP WITH PIERRE BENSUSAN – $50 per person (excludes taxes and processing fees) \nPierre Bensusan’s workshops are open to any guitarist\, from every musical horizon\, who has already attained a competent technical level. \nLevel : intermediate\, advanced \nContent \nPierre addresses issues of musicianship\, philosophy of music\, approach to the guitar\, lots of techniques\, ear training and so forth. All together\, it’s about “Music for Guitar” in Fingerstyle\, whatever the tuning. Pierre’s classes are based on a large concept which is that\, whatever the style\, and whether you’d like to focus on interprating\, improvising or composing\, we need to fulfill the process of expressing music on the instrument. This is analysed and optimized throughout the length of the class by going deep into various right hand and left hand techniques\, body position\, posture\, exercises\, ornementations\, rythmic attention\, tone\, expression\, interpretation\, arranging\,  and so forth. \nPierre plays in DADGAD tuning but while the seminar is not about DADGAD per se\, Pierre will share his experience of this tuning. As far as students reading music or tabs\, it’s only a small part of what goes on at the workshop but would still help if you can read at least the tablature. \nhttp://www.pierrebensusan.com \nCOMMENTS FROM A STUDENT: \n“I was a little apprehensive\, thinking it might only be for “masters”\, or professional musicians. After all\, I’m just a graphic designer who loves guitar. The class attracted players on all levels. There was a really accomplished player who missed a gig at a nearby festival in order to get there\, also a very young kid who showed up with an electric guitar. And everything in between. \nAt one point Pierre had us working on finger control\, doing what should have been a very basic and simple 2 finger exercise. It was disturbing how much I was struggling with it (after all\, I thought I was a fingerpicker). Meanwhile\, the little kid next to me had it nailed! \nPierre was sensitive to each and every one of us. He treated us all as equals\, and answered all our questions. There was one-on-one interaction with all who attended. Being in a small group setting\, and hearing the thoughts of this man who has taken the artistry of fingerstyle guitar so far\, was a deep inspiration. \nEach of us\, all at our different levels\, walked away with a valuable experience. And so much to think about\, you could pick and choose what to work on. The advanced players were challenged. But in many ways\, I think those with the least experience may have had the most to gain. The trio plan to play a number of love songs from their own library plus a selection of well-known classics to help patrons get in the spirit of the season. \nThe Foundation Fighting Blindness has long been a leader in raising money to help fund research into potential cures and treatments for degenerative retinal diseases. We will be open for wine sales by the bottle/glass until 6pm (last wine tasting flights start at 5pm to give you enough time to enjoy before we close at 6pm). \nFOOD TRUCK!!   West Coast Wanderer Food Truck will be on site with their delicious hot food from Noon-4pm! \nLIVE MUSIC! \nOur Barrel Room will welcome you to enjoy LIVE Music by Candelfirth (harp\, guitar\, violin\, tin whistle\, etc. – see full bio below) \n     \n\nAll bottles of wine will be 5% OFF with additional case discounts (the more you buy\, the more you save!)\n$5 Hot Spiced Wine by the glass\nComplimentary Holiday Photos by the Christmas Tree in our Tasting Room\nLocally made wine gifts!\nHot spiced wine recipe packs\nGift baskets and Gift certificates available\n\nWalk-ins are welcome\, but since seating in our Barrel Room is limited we recommend you reserve a table!  Call us at 336-644-9908 \nWest Coast Wanderer (Food Truck) – Featuring delicious freshly made hot food will be on site from Noon-4pm. \n \nIn addition\, artisanal snacks\, cheese plates\, crackers\, sweets\, and non-alcoholic drinks will be available in our Tasting Room\, (we will have heated tables outside)! \nIMPORTANT NOTE:  If you are coming to the  Stokesdale Christmas Parade (which is the same afternoon)\, plan on visiting us before or afterwards for food and wine!  Whether you are coming to the parade or not\, if you are coming from Winston-Salem\, please take I-40 to NC Hwy 68 N to get to the winery\, because NC Hwy 158 between NC 65 and NC 68 will be blocked during the Parade (which starts at 2pm). \nCandelFirth is a musical duo that explores traditional Celtic and Native American music through unique rhythms\, arrangements and expressions. \nRandy Candelaria (fiddle\, guitar\, recorder\, Irish bouzouki\, hurdy gurdy – and others) has been playing Celtic music for over 30 years with a number of bands including Naomi’s Fancy (having performed during a US presidential visit) and the Celthix (opening up for Scotland’s premiere band\, The Tannahill Weavers\, on two evenings).  He has recently played in pubs across Ireland in Dublin\, Galway and Doolin\, including sessions with Friar’s Green and the legendary Irish group De Danann.  Randy also has been involved in recording sessions for various artists and has film credits for his contributions\, along with radio and TV appearances (see his Facebook page for specifics!). \nSusie Firth Candelaria has enjoyed exploring music since childhood and has played a variety of Celtic harps for over 25 years.  A lover of music of all kinds\, including Classical and the music of ancient cultures\, her true love is for the music of Ireland and Scotland.  Susie also performs on a variety of flutes\, penny whistles\, baroque recorders\, Native American flutes\, djembe and bodhran.  She has been a solo artist for years\, a session musician and a guest musician on several recording projects. DESCRIPTION:  \nStonefield Cellars hosts another High Lonesome Strings Bluegrass Association Monthly Meeting\, featuring member band The Southern Gentlemen (see details below). \nNote:  A brief annual board/officers election will be held prior to the concert\, followed by a jam session with band members and other local bluegrass musicians.   This is event is FREE to the public! \nEvent will be held INSIDE our air-conditioned Barrel Room.   \n \n  \n \nThe Southern Gentlemen\nJOHNNY JOHNSON – FOUNDER \, GUITAR \, LEAD VOCALIST – COLLINSVILLE \, VIRGINIA \nStarted playing Mandolin professional as a youth with several groups before founding The Southern Gentlemen in May of 1999 Switching to Guitar\, Lead Vocalist and Manager\, M.C. for the Group. Songwriter and President of Woodchopper Music Publishing BMI . He has Written Over 600 Songs\, many of which are featured on The Southern Gentlemen Show.  Johnny’s distinctive vocal and guitar style are the core behind The Southern Gentlemen Sound.   \nBOBBY WHITLOCK – BANJO \, FINGER PICKED GUITAR \, LEAD AND HARMONY VOCALIST – FIELDALE \,VIRGINIA \nStarted Playing Banjo as an Early Youth in many regional bands throughout the Virginia Area later joining as a founding member of The Fork Mountain Grass in the 1970’s playing the festival circuit through the 1980’s.  Bobby also performed with The Churchmen Gospel group. Bobby joined The Southern Gentlemen in 2007 and continues to contribute his songwriting talent to the band’s repertoire.   \nBURGESS HURD – MANDOLIN – LEAD AND HARMONY VOCALIST\, MARTINSVILLE \, VIRGINIA \nJoining the band in 2014\, Burgess is a fine Mandolinist and Tenor singer-songwriter with over fifty years of performing experience in the fields of Bluegrass and Bluegrass Gospel. DESCRIPTION:Soup and Sing – Potluck Dinner and Jam Session \nLocation: Stonefield Cellars Winery  Start:  6:30pm  End:  10:30ish pm \n \nReservations for Soup and Sing are Required – Please call 336-644-9908. Soup & Sing is a combination pot-luck dinner\, jam session\, and folk gathering for local musicians/singers and music lovers that harkens back to a time when there were no radios or TVs and music was what we made together\, face to face\, an essential part of our soul as necessary as the food that nourished our bodies.   Many different genres of music may be represented during the evening (bluegrass\, celtic\, blues\, folk\, rock\, gospel\, etc.)\, but usually it is acoustic (we do mike vocals though\, so singers can be heard).  Even if you are not a musician as long as you’re a fan of Stonefield Cellars that loves wine and music\, you are welcome to come.   We appreciate your support of local music and local wine!  (Wine sales provide the financial support to make this event possible.) \n \nNote:  For this particular Soup and Sing\, we will be remembering Warren Ludlam\, a musician friend that regularly attended Soup and Sing along with Tunes on Tuesday jams\, concerts\, and other events at the winery over the years.  Warren suddenly passed away recently\, and we will be singing for him and lifting our hearts with memories of him. SUMMARY:High Lonesome Strings Bluegrass Association Meeting:  FREE Concert and Jam Session
DESCRIPTION:  \nHigh Lonesome Strings Bluegrass Association will hold a Member Meeting at Stonefield Cellars Winery on Sunday\, March  26th from 2:30pm-6:00pm.  A short member meeting will be held starting at 2:30pm\, followed by a concert by Paula Dellenback and Fox River\, followed by a Jam Session.  UPDATE:  This meeting will be held OUTSIDE because the weather will be wonderful on Sunday!  Bring your festival style chairs to sit on the terraced lawn in front of the stage.  There will be some picnic table seating also\, but this is further from the stage. Bring an instrument if you want to participate in the jam session.  This event is FREE to the public – come out to learn more about High Lonesome Strings Bluegrass Association and all the wonderful events and benefits this non-profit organization brings to our music community. \nExample seating on terraced lawn in front of stage (bring your own festival style chair!!)\n  \nNote: Stonefield Cellars Winery will be open for regular business from 1-6pm.  Wine\, Beer\, Non-Alcoholic Beverages\, and snacks will be available for purchase.

DESCRIPTION:Soup and Sing – Potluck Dinner and Jam Session \nLocation: Stonefield Cellars Winery \n \nReservations for Soup and Sing are Required – Please call 336-644-9908. Soup & Sing is a combination pot-luck dinner\, jam session\, and folk gathering for local musicians/singers and music lovers that harkens back to a time when there were no radios or TVs and music was what we made together\, face to face\, an essential part of our soul as necessary as the food that nourished our bodies.   Many different genres of music may be represented during the evening (bluegrass\, celtic\, blues\, folk\, rock\, gospel\, etc.)\, but usually it is acoustic (we do mike vocals though\, so singers can be heard).  Even if you are not a musician as long as you’re a fan of Stonefield Cellars that loves wine and music\, you are welcome to come.   We appreciate your support of local music and local wine!  (Wine sales provide the financial support to make this event possible.) \nLarge Parties/Groups Policy:  Due to our policy to preserve the intimacy of the gathering and the need to stay within our capacity limit\, Soup & Sing is not an event for large private parties or groups (more than 8 people in a single party/group).   We do however rent our barrel room for private parties and we can provide you with contact info re: bands for hire.   We also hold barrel room concerts and outdoor music events at the winery during which we can provide concert/festival seating for large groups. \nIf you are interested in attending\, RSVP at 644-9908 or email nwurz@stonefieldcellars.com.  You will be given more details about the evening.
