SUMMARY:CANCELLED Soup and Sing - Potluck Dinner and Jam Session
DESCRIPTION:CANCELLED –  This month’s Soup & Sing is cancelled due to inclement weather.  Please join us in February (2/21/26) for the next one!  Stay safe and warm!   \nReservations are Required for this Event   \nSoup & Sing is a combination pot-luck dinner\, jam session\, and folk gathering for local musicians/singers and music lovers that harkens back to a time when there were no radios or TVs and music was what we made together\, face to face\, an essential part of our soul as necessary as the food that nourished our bodies.   Many different genres of music may be represented during the evening (bluegrass\, celtic\, blues\, folk\, rock\, gospel\, etc.)\, but usually it is acoustic (we do mike vocals though\, so singers can be heard).  Even if you are not a musician as long as you’re a fan of Stonefield Cellars that loves wine and music\, you are welcome to come.   We appreciate your support of local music and local wine!  (Wine sales provide the financial support to make this event possible. \nIf you have questions about this event\, please contact Natalie at nwurz@stonefieldcellars.com \nPlease RSVP below with information about you and what food item you plan to bring\, etc. (it helps us prepare for the event).

With decades of collective musical experience\, The Carolina Heelsplitters deliver a unique sound influenced by a rich tapestry of backgrounds ranging from bluegrass\, old time\, cajun\, blues\, and acoustic rock. They have been performing fun\, engaging\, live shows for over a decade\, throughout the Triangle & Triad areas and are always a crowd favorite.\n\nBand co-founder\, Fiddling Chris Mankoff makes his home in the Bull City. He started playing classical violin at a young age\, inspired by great North Carolina fiddler Tommy Jarrell\, he began playing old-time fiddle in his 20’s. Chris seamlessly blends bluegrass\, old-time\, cajun\, country & western and Irish fiddle styles. A singer\, songwriter\, composer and multi-instrumentalist\, Chris’s main bluegrass influences are Bill Monroe\, Curly Ray Cline\, Kenny Baker and Bobby Hicks\, but his diverse musical influences run deep and are a source of endless surprises.\n\nHarold Brady\, a band co-founder and Triangle resident\, hails from Moore County\, playing bass in bluegrass bands throughout his time at NC State University in the 1990’s. Since then he has played in numerous bluegrass\, indie rock\, country\, cajun/zydeco\, and jazz projects throughout central North Carolina. Inspired by bluegrassers such as Mike Bub\, Rob Wasserman\, and Tom Gray he keeps the party moving. Harold’s passion for the rivers and streams throughout the state led to him proposing the band name\, The Carolina Heelsplitters\, a federally protected freshwater mussel that only occurs in a small area along the North and South Carolina stateline.\n\nWith over 30 years of experience as a performer and songwriter\, Greensboro’s Greg Eldred has become a celebrated figure in the realms of Bluegrass\, Americana\, and country music. Drawing inspiration from the legendary sounds of Doc Watson\, Bill Monroe\, and Jerry Reed\, Greg’s music resonates with authenticity and heartfelt storytelling.  Throughout his career\, Greg has showcased his versatility as an artist\, captivating audiences with his skilled guitar playing and soulful vocals. His ability to traverse various musical genres has not only enriched his performances but has also positioned him as an established songwriter\, with his works being recorded by national artists. This recognition highlights his talent and dedication to the craft\, making him a sought-after collaborator in the music industry.\n\nBanjoist Marshall Gray is a native of Lynchburg\, Va and currently resides in Haw River\, NC.  Marshall was exposed to bluegrass and old time at an early age through local acts\, seeing the Reno and Smiley show on TV each morning\, and annual family visits to Galax Fiddlers convention.  He attended East Tennessee State University where he fell into a hotbed of bluegrass\, including taking the then one hour bluegrass band class (which has now become a full program). His primary banjo influences are Sammy Shelor and Ron Block.  Marshall completed a military career but was able to squeeze in working with bands such as Atlanta based\, Pilgrims; VA’s Deja Moo; and Triangle’s White Pine Hollow\, and The String Machine.\nCome out and enjoy an eclectic repertoire best described simply as\, “Splittergrass”!\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFor information about High Lonesome Strings Bluegrass Association and today’s band visit \nhttp://www.highlonesomestrings.org/ \nWine\, beer\, and non-alcoholic beverages will be for sale.  Your purchases are what enables us to host great live music in our community!  Thank you in advance for your patronage. \n

For more information about the day-time workshop\, visit Healing Through Music and Movement \nTo those NOT attending the workshop but coming to SOUP & SING\, PLEASE bring a dish to share (i.e.\, potluck dinner item).  It can be a meat or vegetable dish or a dessert.  And remember\, we are starting EARLIER than usual and we want you to participate in the Wine Reception (please arrive between 5:30 and 6:30)….. \n>>WINE AND TEA RECEPTION –  For both Workshop Participants and Soup & Sing Participants!   From 5:30 – 6:30 we will hold a Reception to give workshop participants/workshop leaders an opportunity to meet and mingle with our local music community.  FREE samples of pre-selected Stonefield Cellars wines will be offered to help you choose what you might want to buy for enjoying with dinner or for taking home!!!   A percentage of all WINE SALES between 5:30 and 10:00 PM will be donated to MARATHON JAM!  TEAS provided by Cape Breton Tea Company and presented by Dr. Michelle Greenwell. \n  \nPLEASE RSVP to the RECEPTION and/or SOUP & SING  below….. \n  \nIf you need more info  about this event\, please contact Natalie at 336-689-4071 or email nwurz@stonefieldcellars.com  \n

SUMMARY:Soup and Sing - Potluck Dinner and Jam Session
DESCRIPTION:Reservations are Required for this Event   \nSoup & Sing is a combination pot-luck dinner\, jam session\, and folk gathering for local musicians/singers and music lovers that harkens back to a time when there were no radios or TVs and music was what we made together\, face to face\, an essential part of our soul as necessary as the food that nourished our bodies. (Wine sales provide the financial support to make this event possible.) \nCheck out a video of a fun jam session here: \nhttps://stonefieldcellars.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/SoupandSingFeb2023trimmed.mp4\nLarge Parties/Groups Policy:  Due to our policy to preserve the intimacy of the gathering and the need to stay within our capacity limit\, Soup & Sing is not an event for large private parties or groups (more than 8 people in a single party/group).   We do however rent our barrel room for private parties and we can provide you with contact info re: bands for hire.   We also hold barrel room concerts and outdoor music events at the winery during which we can provide concert/festival seating for large groups. \nIf you have questions about this event\, please contact Natalie at nwurz@stonefieldcellars.com \nPlease RSVP below…
