Learn techniques to start or improve your own home winemaking while creating your own wine during class in small teams of 2-4 & hone your wine evaluation skills with classes on sensory evaluation training and food and wine pairing. \n  \nFall 2022 Course Dates & Times: \nMondays 7:00-9:00 pm in the Stonefield Cellars Production Room. \n\nSept. 19th: Introduction – Basics of fermentation and winemaking.\nOct. 3rd: Principles of Winemaking – Racking\, barrels\, oak alternatives\, tannins. Wines of the world.\nOct. 10th: Wine sensory evaluation. DESCRIPTION:Saturday Sept. 3rd & Sunday Sept. 4th\nWe are a family-friendly winery\, but please make sure children are supervised at all times! Just like a farm\, we have gardening and production equipment out in the open. \nBearded BBQ Food Truck will be on-site Saturday from 12-3pm! Outside of food truck hours we do allow picnics\, but please No Pets\, No Smoking (includes vaping)\, and No Outside Alcohol! \nWine Tastings\nWine Tasting Flights will be available Saturday (12-5pm) and (Sunday 1-5pm). Our last wine tastings start at 5pm and the winery closes at 6pm. \nWe can only pour wine flights for groups of 4 or less. As we cannot host tastings for large groups at this time\, groups of 5-6 guests may purchase bottles or glasses of wine to enjoy on our outdoor patio and garden. Guests may try a complimentary taste of their chosen wine before purchasing. If you are coming with a group of 6+ people\, please call ahead so that we can accommodate you (336-644-9908)!  \n  \nFood\nBearded BBQ Food Truck will be on-site Saturday from 12-3pm! Our winemaker will be giving tours of our Barrel Room & Crush Pad this Labor Day weekend. The winery closes at 6pm. \n  \n \nPick-Your-Own-Grapes*\nOur Niagara grapes are ripe and ready to pick! \nNiagara grapes are well known as the source of most white grape juice and are also used for making wine & jams! The Niagara grape was created in Niagara County\, New York\, in 1868 when Claudius L. Hoag and Benjamin W. Clark cross-bred Concord grapes with white Cassady grapes. The fresh grape is large and juicy\, round to oval-shaped\, pale greenish-white in color and has a sweet\, very pleasant aroma. \nBring your own snips and a bucket (bucket size limited to 2 gallons or less) and gather some to enjoy. If you’ve never had Niagara grapes before they are similar to muscadines! Although the skin is edible\, some people prefer to squeeze each grape so the pulp goes in their mouth and they can discard the skin (and spit out the seeds). \n*This is an at-your-own-risk agritourism activity in our vineyard. Please use your best judgement and supervise minors at all times. \n  \nPatio\, Gardens\, and Lawn Open to the Public\nCome out and enjoy a glass or bottle of wine! DESCRIPTION:  \n \nGAILFEAN\nIRISH TRADITIONAL MUSIC AT ITS BEST! \nFor this concert\, GAILFEAN is comprised of \nDon Penzien\, Brian Conway\, and John Whelan \nDon Penzien has long been a top-flight performer of Irish traditional music. He frequently is on the road playing concerts and festivals with Gailfean\, The Máirtín de Cógáin Project\, and Shared Madness (featuring Haley Richardson & Megan Irby). Widely recognized for his reserved backing style\, Don’s dexterous work on DADGAD-tuned guitar provides solid\, driving rhythms to traditional tunes as well as perceptive and sensitive accompaniments to songs and airs. Don is a Michigan native with strong roots in Irish culture and an affinity for Celtic music. Upon relocating south\, he found Mississippi sorely lacking as per its appreciation of the Irish and Scottish traditions native to many of the state’s citizens. So\, in 1992\, he founded and for 25 years he directed what has evolved into a much-revered celebration of traditional Celtic music and dance—CelticFest Mississippi. Don has now relocated to North Carolina (where he works as Professor of Psychiatry\, Anesthesiology and Neurology at the Wake Forest School of Medicine). \nBrian Conway is a New York born fiddler and a leading exponent of the tastefully ornamented Sligo fiddling style made famous by the late Michael Coleman. The winner of two All- Ireland junior titles in 1973 and 1974 and the All-Ireland senior championship of 1986\, Brian’s early studies were with his father Jim of Plumbridge\, County Tyrone and with Limerick born fiddler/teacher Martin Mulvihill. However\, it was the legendary fiddler and composer Martin Wynne who taught him the real secrets of the County Sligo style. Later\, Brian met and befriended the great Andy McGann of New York\, a direct student of Michael Coleman\, who further shaped his precision and skill on the instrument.  In 1979\, Brian recorded a duet album\, The Apple In Winter (Green Linnet) with fellow New York fiddler Tony Demarco. He released his debut solo CD\, First Through the Gate\, on the Smithsonian-Folkways label in July 2002. This CD was voted the Album of the Year by The Irish Echo. Brian is also featured on the CD\, My Love is in America\, recorded at the Boston College Irish Fiddle Festival\, and on the documentary Shore to Shore”which highlights traditional Irish music in New York. He is considered one of the musical rocks in the New York area. Subsequent CD’s released on the prestigious Irish Label Cló Iar-Chonnachta included A Tribute to Andy McGann (2007)\, and Consider the Source (2008).  These well received recordings were followed by Pride of New York\, and then Won’t You Come Out Tonight (2017)\,  the debut CD for Gailfean. Brian is considered one of the musical rocks in the New York area. \nJohn Whelan –  Seven-time all-Ireland champion John Whelan is one of the world’s best living Irish button accordion players. John was raised in the vibrant London Irish music scene of the 1970s\, and learned his craft from such legends as Lucy Farr\, Roger Sherlock\, Paddy Taylor\, Mick O Connor and his teacher Brendan Mulkaire. He moved to the USA in 1980 and has been inspiring Celtic musicians and fans ever since.   Along with his All-Ireland Championships\, he was twice awarded musician of the year from the Irish Music Association. He has over 15 CDs and has performed on Late Night with Conan Obrien. John Is also a sought-after composer and producer. His music has been featured on such TV shows as Sex in the City and History’s Mysteries and History Detective.  Currently John performs with the John Whelan Band and Gailfean. If you have any questions regarding tickets you can reach us over the phone at 336-644-9908 during regular business hours (12-6pm Thurs-Sat & 1-6pm Sun). \nCOST: $10 per person. \nEVENT TIMELINE:   Concert is from 7-9 pm. The Food Truck will be ready to serve by 6:30 pm. Guests may arrive at any time prior to the concert. Prior to 6:30 pm please proceed to our Tasting Room to purchase your ticket or get your prepaid wristband. After 6:30 pm\, at-the-gate sales and Will Call check-in will be at our Entrance Table. \nINSIDE OR OUT?: This concert will be held OUTSIDE in our lovely garden\, rain or shine. Dress for the weather.  Should severe\, unsafe conditions be forecasted during the concert time\, it is possible that the concert will be delayed.  We will post any schedule changes on our website and on the Stonefield Cellars Winery Facebook Page. \nSEATING: \n\n4-person Front Row VIP Bistro Seating for $45 (includes admission for four) Sold Out!\n6-person Front Row VIP Glass-Top Table Seating for $65 (includes admission for six) Sold Out!\n4-person Pavilion VIP Bistro Seating for $45 (includes admission for four) Sold Out!\nGeneral Admission ($10/person): Bring a lawn chair for our terraced lawn area\, or we have first-come-first-seat picnic tables in the upper garden.\nParty Lawn Admission ($10/person): Bring a lawn chair or picnic blanket. This area does not have a direct view of the band! Best for guests who want plenty of room to socialize\, drink and dance. Party Lawn attendees can still hear the music loudly and the lawn has easy access to our Tasting Room & Food Truck. (Picnic blankets available in Tasting Room.)\n\n \n  \nDRINKS:   Wine\, Fresh Sangria\, Beer\, and non-alcoholic beverages will be available for purchase. \nFOOD:  Taco Bros. DESCRIPTION:Please join us for a lovely Mother’s Day with family and friends.  \nSaucey Chick Gourmet Sauces will be our food vendor for the afternoon –  ‘street fare with a flare’  starting at 1:00 pm!!!   Menu is family friendly: Chicken Tenders\, Hamburgers\, Hot Dogs\, Fries (regular and sweet potato)\, okra\, and slaw.   Please plan on supporting this local\, woman owned food business during your visit. \nNote: With cooler temps expected\, we will have our patio heaters in service and will open up our Barrel Room for reservation seating (call 336-644-9908 for available times). \nWine: Wine by the glass & wine by the bottle will be available for purchase in our Tasting Room! $12.50 Wine Tasting Flights are available for groups of 4 or less and our last tastings start at 5pm.
