About the Performers:
Wayne Seymour and Fred Reynolds are from Rockingham County and have been playing together both as a duo and in larger groups for many years. Both were members of the Sweet Sunny South and Piney Forks Entertainers, occasionally appearing as part of the New North Carolina Ramblers. Fred’s work took him to Alabama for several years and upon his return, he and Wayne began playing together again.
Fred is an expressive and versatile vocalist who songs range from sentimental to traditional songs, blues and early country. He plays guitar and dulcimer, and recently has been playing the Weissenborn Hawaiian guitar. Wayne plays guitar, mandolin, old-time banjo, dulcimer, harmonica, and hammer dulcimer….usually not all of them at one performance! He has become active as a songwriter in the past couple of years. He is also noted for his wit and stage commentary.
Both Wayne and Fred have won numerous ribbons for dulcimer, autoharp and folksong at festivals throughout Virginia and North Carolina. Wayne served as music director for the Touring Theatre of North Carolina for 11 years, creating and arranging music for all of their productions.
