Earth Day Nature Hike followed by Winery Visit  WILL BE RESCHEDULED!!!!!

RAINED OUT – We will reschedule this to another Date based on tomorrow’s very rainy and windy forecast – Please contact Natalie if you are interested in joining us on another date!!!!  Send  name, phone number, and emails of those interested and date options of your availability in the months of May and June to [email protected] with HIKE as the subject line.  Natalie will follow up with you about another date.

Earth Day (will have to be rescheduled to another day) Hike at Knight-Brown Nature Preserve (see map link below)- Meet at 9:30 a.m at the trail head (hike should be completed around noon) then after the hike we travel to nearby Stonefield Cellars Winery for a bring-your-own picnic lunch and wine tasting (or buy wine by the glass/bottle, snacks, beer and non-alcoholic beverages available also).
Celebrate Earth Day  the outdoors with a hike at Knight-Brown Nature Preserve, just a few miles north-west of Stonefield Cellars Winery. Natalie will lead the hike at this beautiful nature preserve which includes multiple trail loops, a few steep hills, a beautiful creek, and interpretive signs along the way. If all loops are hiked, mileage will total 3.43. Number of loops hiked will be determined by group participants. Note: Difficulty is easy to ‘moderate’ (only because we will go up and down a couple of hills – it’s not flat the whole way!). You must RSVP if you plan to join this hike. Natalie will give you more information before the date. For those interested, after the hike we will head to Stonefield Cellars Winery for a (bring-your-own) picnic lunch – and wine will be available for purchase of course! Please RSVP (see instructions above regarding a future date) to [email protected]

About Your Nature Hike Guide

Natalie Wurz

Natalie Wurz is a nature lover that has spent a lifetime of pursuing outdoor adventures. Through the years as a College Outdoor Club Officer, Girl Scout Leader and now Business Owner (Stonefield Cellars), she has led groups on hikes, camp-outs, and kayak/rafting trips in Georgia, Utah, and North Carolina.  With either a fishing rod, paddle, hiking stick, or camera in hand, Natalie is comfortable on land and water and is always eager to share her passion for the year round beauty of our natural world with others. Note:  The photo you see here was taken by the ox-bow of the creek beside the trail we will be walking at the Knight-Brown Nature Preserve!

Natalie will lead you on a nature walk through the Knight-Brown Nature Preserve located in Stokesdale, NC.   Difficulty of the trail is rated as Easy to Moderate.  You must be able to walk from 1-1/2 to 2 hours – we will stop and take photos and rest as necessary since some of the walk will be uphill.  Important!!!!   While there are bridges for crossing the creek, some trail areas may be muddy if we’ve had recent rain, and sometimes the trail may be slippery with leaves.  Therefore, sturdy, closed toe shoes are a must (no sandals or flip-flops).  Dress for the weather (wear layers, bring a jacket).  If steady RAIN is in the forecast we will NOT go on the nature walk and will replace it with an INDOOR activity.

*Times listed above are approximate as the nature walk end time will be effected by size of group and how often we stop for photos and rests.

If you have ANY questions about the hike or winery visit contact Natalie – 336-689-4071.
