About Us

Stonefield Cellars Winery began with our vision of creating a small, high quality winery in Guilford County. Vineyards and good luck brought the founders together and their common love of wine and farming provided the foundation for the creation of Stonefield Cellars. Along the way, friends have joined and helped us to realize our dream of our vineyard and winery.  Recently celebrating our 5th Anniversary, Stonefield Cellars has become one of the most respected and beloved wineries in the state of North Carolina.

Robert Wurz President and Wine Maker

Robert Wurz, a California native, began making wine at an early age of fourteen in the basement of his parents’ home near Calistoga. He followed his passion for wine through college, where he earned a Ph.D. in Wine Chemistry from University of California – Davis. His experience with North Carolina’s grapes since 1999 has resulted in excellent wines, even from challenging vintages.

Michelle Cone, Tasting Room Manager and Noah Stonefield, Greeter

Michelle Cone joined Stonefield Cellars as Tasting Room Manager in 2011.  Michelle’s background in marketing is eclipsed only by her stellar, sunny disposition!   She is a joyful addition to our staff and will make sure that your experience at Stonefield Cellars is fun and memorable.

Noah Stonefield became part of our family in 2009 and ever since he has held the honorable position of Official Greeter.  His popularity necessitated that he grace one of our wine labels (Gato Merlot).  Other Noah related items can be found in our Tasting Room so that you  can take a bit of Noah home with you.
