SPECIAL Soup and Sing – Potluck Dinner and Jam Session

By

Reservations are Required for this Event –

Note the Earlier start time!!!!

We will be holding a special Wine Reception hour from 5:30-6:30 before we eat (Dinner will be from 6:30-7:30), music jam follows.

See below WHY we are doing something a little different this time!

Soup & Sing is a combination pot-luck dinner, jam session, and folk gathering for local musicians/singers and music lovers that harkens back to a time when there were no radios or TVs and music was what we made together, face to face, an essential part of our soul as necessary as the food that nourished our bodies.   Many different genres of music may be represented during the evening (bluegrass, celtic, blues, folk, rock, gospel, etc.), but usually it is acoustic (we do mike vocals though, so singers can be heard).  Even if you are not a musician as long as you’re a fan of Stonefield Cellars that loves wine and music, you are welcome to come.   We appreciate your support of local music and local wine!  (Wine sales provide the financial support to make this event possible.)

NOTE:  This is a SPECIAL Soup & Sing in that it will follow the 1st Annual “Healing through Music & Movement Workshop” held from 9am-5:30 pm the same day at Stonefield Cellars.  Sponsored by MARATHON JAM™,  this one-day interactive workshop will be focused on world class insights and techniques involving music and movement to support healing and self-care.  The workshop participants will be individuals dedicated to providing creative arts therapy (music, dance, visual, recreational, etc.),  especially therapists that work with veterans, first responders, senior citizens and others experiencing on-going life trauma. For more information about the day-time workshop, visit Healing Through Music and Movement

To those NOT attending the workshop but coming to SOUP & SING, PLEASE bring a dish to share (i.e., potluck dinner item).  It can be a meat or vegetable dish or a dessert.  And remember, we are starting EARLIER than usual and we want you to participate in the Wine Reception (please arrive between 5:30 and 6:30)…..

>>WINE AND TEA RECEPTION –  For both Workshop Participants and Soup & Sing Participants!   From 5:30 – 6:30 we will hold a Reception to give workshop participants/workshop leaders an opportunity to meet and mingle with our local music community.  FREE samples of pre-selected Stonefield Cellars wines will be offered to help you choose what you might want to buy for enjoying with dinner or for taking home!!!   A percentage of all WINE SALES between 5:30 and 10:00 PM will be donated to MARATHON JAM!  TEAS provided by Cape Breton Tea Company and presented by Dr. Michelle Greenwell.

PLEASE RSVP to the RECEPTION and/or SOUP & SING  below…..

Fiddle Tunes Friendzy – Learn and Play Fiddle Tunes

By

Tunes, Tunes, Tunes … FIDDLE tunes specifically!   This is not a singing jam, but an opportunity to learn (or teach) fiddle tunes from all genres of traditional music.  All ages, all levels, and various instruments are welcomed (especially fiddles, of course), but this session is intended to focus on the tunes themselves.    Please RSVP if you plan to attend (see RSVP form below)

Fiddle Tune Friendzy is an all ages event.  Learn and play fiddle tunes from many traditions (Bluegrass, Oldtime, Irish, Scottish, Blues, Cajun, Ragtime, Contra Dance).

Bring:  Violins, Mandolins, Guitars, Banjos, Tin Whistles, Accordions, Etc.

This Event is FREE.  Come to listen or to join in the music circle playing Fiddle Tunes

Sponsors include: Stonefield Cellars Winery, High Lonesome Strings, Vance Archer III, The Thursday Music Circle

Vance Archer III Bio

Vance D. Archer III has been a musician for over 70 years with a career that spans from classical cello in the family string quartet to 40 years of leading Folk Music, Irish Celli and Contra Dance bands in the greater New York City/New Jersey region. He plays violin, viola, cello, guitar, mandolin, autoharp and bouzouki in a variety of musical styles.

Since moving to Greensboro in 2005, Vance has become active in the Triad Music and Art Scene. In addition to leading the Fiddle Tunes Friendzy, Vance hosts the Triad Music Circle in his home, where they enjoy playing acoustic music from many traditions. The Music Circle consists of musicians with varied abilities and interests while serving primarily as emotional musical therapy for its members. The group also serves as an introduction to group playing for his students. Vance hosts an occasional “Traveling Hootenanny” where folks join for an evening of socialization and singing.

Vance performs solo concerts in various regional venues. For these performances he often plays Guitar, Autoharp and Fiddle while leading the singing. Vance organizes solo and group musical entertainment for social gatherings and trade shows and can gather the proper mix of musicians to accommodate most musical venues.

Vance would rather practice outside than inside. He can often be seen strolling in the Bog Garden, Bicentennial Gardens, Country Park or the Arboretum with his fiddle or sitting on a park bench with his autoharp.

“Eight Track” – A Songwriter Showcase Concert w/ Food Truck

By

NOTE:  TICKETS ARE STILL AVAILABLE AT THE GATE ONLY (No longer available online)!!!!  Cash and Credits Cards accepted.

Stonefield Cellars will be hosting a special Songwriter Showcase and fundraising concert called “Eight Track”

Saturday, April 19th 2025 – 6:30-9:30 pm – “Eight Track” is a Songwriter Showcase Concert featuring local songwriters.

In the eight weeks leading up to the event, each of the songwriters (or songwriting teams) will be responsible for writing a new song per week and posting a demo video of themselves performing it to 8 Track’s event page on Facebook (link).  At the end of this eight week period, the songwriters will pick four of the eight songs they wrote to perform at the showcase.

Along the way, the public will be encouraged to give feedback on all of the songs, thus helping to shape the show they will see on April 19th. Furthermore, one fan-suggested prompt will be selected per week for each of the last four weeks to give the writers a little extra inspiration.

The line up for “Eight Track” includes William Nesmith, Tegan and Robert Beverly, Justin Cohen, and Tyler Millard (bios coming soon). This list of performers was curated to provide a show that promises to be both diverse in genre, but specific in intent. That is to say, each of these writers has at least a hint of a pop mentality in the way that they write, meaning that their songs are intended to be catchy and approachable. Navigate to (link coming soon) to find a playlist comprised of some of the songwriters’ previous releases.

Tickets to “Eight Track” are available below.

Note: A portion of ticket and wine sales from “Eight Track” will be donated to the Down syndrome Association of greater Winston-Salem. For more information on the DSA navigate to  (dsagwsorg).

Tyler Millard strives to write music that is as introspective as the alternative music he grew up listening to in the 90’s and as commercially appealing as the blues rock that became popular as he was learning to play guitar in the early 2000’s. And though his music can be quite serious at times,  Millard has developed a reputation for putting on shows that are upbeat and fun.

William Nesmith –  Since 2018, Nesmith has played hundreds of shows with popular covers and fun original tunes (while wearing party sunglasses).  From inspiring ballads to bubbly bops, he uses his unique vocal range to paint a spectrum of emotions.

Tegan and Robert Beverly  (Barefoot Modern)

Barefoot Modern traces its roots back to Oak Ridge, NC, where Robert and Tegan Beverly (now married) began making music together in sixth grade. Since then, they’ve evolved into a distinctive force in the indie scene, releasing two full-length albums, one EP, and a series of singles that showcase their evolving sound and artistic vision.

Justin Cohen

Justin Cohen is a singer/songwriter/producer who was born in California and has bounced back and forth from coast to coast 3 times and currently hails from North Carolina. He has had the honor of being part of records with Jelly Roll, Merkules, Bizzy Bone, from bone Thugs-n-Harmony and many more.
