Stonefield Cellars Barrel Room Concert 6/1/19 – Sam Pacetti – Guitarist/Singer-Songwriter
We are pleased to bring back one of our favorite guitar masters and singer-songwriters – Sam Pacetti. It has been too long since he has graced our barrel room stage!
Sam Pacetti is one who brings it all together. A fingerstyle guitar wizard. A deft songwriter, capable of haunting depth and wry humor in the space of one song. A impassioned and ecstatic vocalist, as well as a mesmerizing live performer, seamlessly melding head-spinning guitar pyrotechnics and raw emotion into one breathtaking package.
Pacetti represents a culmination of the best of the American and British traditions. His 1997 Waterbug debut, Solitary Travel, garnered critical raves. “This guy is very good, indeed,” deadpanned the highly respected (and highly critical) UK magazine Folk Roots. And Dirty Linen, the influential US roots publication, opined, “Although the woods are full of young guitar virtuosos, few have developed the style, technique and artistic wisdom of Sam Pacetti. Solitary travel heralds the arrival of one of the most talented instrumentalists and composers to appear in acoustic music in a month of Sunday’s.”
Sam Pacetti grew up in North Florida, hardly known as a hotbed of either the folk tradition or musical innovation. Influenced by Chet Atkins, Merle Travis, and most profoundly by Gamble Rogers, Sam carries on the important element of the folk process, the passing of music and oral tradition from teacher to student.
Tradition and innovation neatly balance in Sam Pacetti’s music, the whole infused by a relentless intelligence intent on musical and philosophical synthesis. Martin Simpson, Richard Thompson, Joni Mitchell and Merle Travis are touchstones to Pacetti, and while there are strong elements of the American primitive school of guitar wizardry throughout his work, there is a powerful raw emotionality evident as well – an earthy sensuality more reminiscent of a Greg Brown or a red-dirt blues master than of a musical academian.
Word has started to spread about Sam Pacetti. And as with anything truly innovative, it starts at the grassroots. You won’t see Pacetti written up in People or Us. You won’t hear his music on Top-40 radio. No, word is spreading about Sam Pacetti the way true innovation always does – through the grassroots. Through non-commercial radio and “specialty show” play. From tapes and CDs passed from friend to friend. At folk festivals and listening rooms. And, in the tradition stemming from the days of rent-raising parties in the Mississippi delta – and now carried on by music aficionados unable to find music that interest them within the mainstream.
One of the great things about the Stonefield Cellars Barrel Room is the intimate setting it provides so that you can hear Sam’s guitar mastery and storytelling lyrics upfront and personal!!!!
Door opens at 7:00 pm, concert starts at 7:30 pm.
COST: Advance tickets are $16, $14 for Wine Club Members, $18 at door. See below for advance ticket option! (Wine Club Member discount limited to 4 per household.)
DRINKS: Wine, Beer, and non-alcoholic beverages will be available for purchase.
FOOD: As there is no food vendor for this concert we recommend eating beforehand. Outside food is allowed in small quantities (think snacks, small plates, or tapas), but please be considerate of other guests- don’t bring smelly or pungent food items. We will also be selling snacks such as cheese, crackers, peanuts, and a wide assortment of locally-made chocolate for dessert during the evening!
EVENT POLICIES: No Pets, No Outside Alcohol, No Smoking (anywhere on our property, including our parking lot!).
*Barrel Room Concert Etiquette Reminder: This concert will be held in our intimate barrel room and is intended to be a listening experience. The audience is expected to be respectful of the artist’s performance and their listening neighbors, so loud talking and cell phone use is discouraged.
Concert tickets are non-refundable.

The band has made the call and this concert will be held Outside so there will be plenty of room and we will be selling tickets at our entrance gate. We will also have a few tents set up on the lawn for general admission seating (first come first seat) and our VIP tables will all have umbrellas.
Sigean (pronounced “She gun”, translation: silly little people) Band Members Tom Swadley – Guitar, Frank Wing – Fiddle, Tenor Banjo and Vocals, John Rushing – Upright Bass and Vocals, Marcianne O’Day – Fiddle and Vocals, Reagan DeBusk – Flute and Whistles, Buz Lee – Bodhran come from the Tri-Cities Region of northeast Tennessee and southwest Virginia.
This full spectrum band will have you toe-tapping and maybe even doing an Irish jig with their traditional Irish and Americana spin. Our July tradition of bringing you Irish music to the Friday Flavors series will not disappoint. Call all your TRAD loving friends out for this one. Gonna be a party!
Note: Advanced ticket purchase is always recommended because 1) It helps our food vendor anticipate food amounts and 2) If the concert is held indoors, seating is limited – we’d hate to turn you away at the door. All tickets purchased in advanced are held at Will Call under the name of the purchaser.
